Accountability Lab Zimbabwe announces new call for applications

HARARE-The Accountability Lab Zimbabwe, an organisation that nurtures young civic leaders and social entrepreneurs working to address accountability challenges in their communities, has opened applications for its 2023 cohort.

In a press statement, Accountability Lab communications officer Upenyu Makoni-Muchemwa said the new cohort will commence next January under the general theme “Global Challenges, Local Solutions”.

“The Incubator seeks to recruit ten emerging civic leaders and social entrepreneurs working to improve open government, participation, and accountability. The Incubator is especially keen on applications that focus on participation, inclusion, digital governance, or environmental governance across a variety of themes. 

“The ten selected Accountapreneurs will receive hands-on support for a year through training on a variety of issues that are essential to idea development and initiative building. These will include focuses on knowledge, mentorship, network building, and media outreach. Accountapreneurs will also have access to workspace, equipment, internet and other non material benefits courtesy of Accountability Lab Zimbabwe and its global training and networking opportunities,” said Makoni-Muchemwa.

Applications will close on 14 October 2022 at midnight.

The 2022 cohort of Accountapreneurs will exit the Incubator in December at a graduation and Friendraiser event in Harare. The Friendraiser will be open to the public and will celebrate and raise support for the Accountapreneurs’ work.

Since inception in 2020, the Accountability Incubator in Zimbabwe has hosted 22 Accountapreneurs.
